Rachael is President of the Jeff Hill Legacy Fund and the surviving spouse of Captain Jeff Hill.
Rachael and Jeff met while they were both in Technical Training School at Sheppard AFB, Texas, and were married in a courthouse on Guam on April 1, 1999. After Jeff was accepted to pilot training, Rachael separated from the Air Force to follow him and support his career, a decision she never regretted. Their two boys, TJ and Tyler, were born while stationed at Columbus AFB, Mississippi, and they all relocated to Alaska in 2008. Rachael and the boys stayed in Alaska for four years after Jeff’s death, then moved to Elk River, Minnesota in July 2014 to be closer to family.
Rachael stays very busy and enjoys her time watching the boys play football, baseball, hockey, and all of the other activities they are involved in. She also teaches group fitness classes at the local YMCA and enjoys making fitness fun for others. She holds an Associates Degree in Financial Management from the Community College of the Air Force, Associates in Arts from the University of Alaska Anchorage, Bachelors in Occupational Education (Specialization in Russian with Minors in Financial Management and History) from Wayland Baptist University, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Masters in Thanatology (the study of death, dying, and bereavement) from Marian University. She also recently accepted a position as Comptroller for the Minnesota American Legion and is excited to re-enter the “work force” with this amazing organization.
Rachael is extremely proud of her husband and everything he accomplished in his short 31 years of life. She is especially excited to be able to share his story and his lasting impact through the Jeff Hill Legacy Fund. Having the opportunity to helping young cadets achieve their Air Force in Jeff’s name not only gives her a great sense of accomplishment, but also brings a smile to her face knowing that Jeff will never be forgotten.
